Understanding Your Swing Metrics: Early Extension Explained

Early extension section measures the severity of early extension. Early extension occurs when the lower body moves toward the ball rather than rotating properly, potentially affecting swing consistency.

It’s measured by your forward hip movement and upright spine rotation from the top of the swing to impact.

Grading Scheme

Excellent – No sign of early extension. Good job!

Good – Minor signs of early extension.

Okay – Shows signs of early extension. Keep an eye on your hip movement.

Caution – Significant signs of early extension. Recommended to work on your downswing.

Feedback

  • Hip Forward – Your hip movement from the top of the swing to impact is greater than most tour pro data, indicating forward hip thrust instead of rotation.
  • Spine Upright – Your upper body rises excessively from the top of the swing to impact, which may affect balance and ball contact.
